A whisk is a cooking device that can be used to combine fine material or to put air into a mixture, in a process known as whisking or whipping . Most whisks consist of long and narrow grips with a series of wire loops combined at the end. Cables are usually made of metal, but some plastic for use with nonstick cookware. Whisks are also made of bamboo.
Whisks are commonly used to whip the egg whites into strong foam to make meringue, or whip cream into a whipped cream.
Whisks have different shaped loops depending on the intended function:

History
Bundles of twigs, usually apples, have long been used as whisks; Often the wood used will lend a certain aroma to the plate. The 18th century Shaker recipe calls for "Cut a handful of twigs of peach filled with sap in this season of the year." Clip the tip and bruise them and beat the cake dough with them. This will give a fine peach flavor to the cake. "
Beat wire was found some time before 1841.
In the United States, cranked rotary rotary egg whitters are becoming more popular than whisks in the 20th century. Julia Child is credited with reintroducing the wire shaker in her first televised television appearance, in 1963.

Type
- The most common form is the large teardrop, called the balloon whack . Whisks balloons are best suited for mixing in a bowl, because their curved tip corresponds to the concave side of the bowl.
- With longer and narrower wire loops, French whisk has a more cylindrical profile, adjusting it to a deep and straight pot.
- A flatterperter , sometimes referred to as roux whisk , has a loop arranged in a flat successive pattern. This is useful for working on shallow ships like frying pans (where roux is usually prepared).
- Shake sauces , sometimes referred to as spiral whiskers , usually have one main loop with another circular wire around it. The shuffle head angle is ideal for mixing sauce, jello, dough, and sauce.
- Similarly, whisk spinning or coil whisk has one wire rotating to a balloon shape. Designed to remain stationary in the bowl while the user pumps the handle up and down, it circulates the liquid easily throughout the bowl. It's not suitable for stirring in the traditional sense, because dragging the whisk through the liquid or dough just stretches the roll, but is ideal for beating eggs.
- Whisks ball does not have any loops. Instead, a group of individual cables comes out of the handle, each ending with a metal ball. Heavy balls are able to reach the corners of the wok straight. Since there are no crossing cables, ball whisking is easier to clean than traditional circular varieties. The whisks ball manufacturer also stated that its shape allows for better aeration.
- A pocket , sometimes referred to as ball whisk , is a balloon whisk with a small round cage trapped inside, which in turn holds a metal ball.
Mechanism
Since the 19th century, various mechanical devices have been designed to make stirring more efficient, under the name "egg beatter," "rotary mixer," etc.
