A Sex on the Beach is a cocktail of vodka, schnapp peach, orange juice, and cranberry juice. Cocktails are usually consumed during the summer. This is considered an IBA Official Cocktail.
There are several stories that claim to describe the origin of Sex on the Beach. One claim that cocktails originated in Florida, USA in the spring of 1987 coincided with the introduction of schnapps peach. A bartender at Confetti's Bar finds the drink and names it with a nod to the many tourists who visit Florida beaches every spring.

General type
There are two common types of cocktails:
- The first type is made of vodka, schnapps peach, orange juice, and cranberry juice. This is the Official Bartender Association's Official Cocktail.
- The second type is made of vodka, Chambord, Midori Melon Liqueur, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice. This type is registered in Mr. Boston Bartender's Official Guide.
This drink is built on ice in a glass of highball and decorated with orange slices. Sometimes they are mixed in smaller quantities and serve as shooters.

Variations
Some variations are sometimes called by the same name:
- Hard Rock Cafe recipes are based on the second form, calling for vodka, Midori, Chambord, lemon juice, pineapple juice, and sugar syrup, whipped and filtered over the ice into Collins glasses.
- Other variations include orange juice and pineapple juice.
- Coconut palm is often replaced with vodka.
- Grenadine is sometimes used as a substitute for cranberry juice, especially in locally where cranberry juice is hard to come by.
- Amaretto is sometimes added for added flavor.
- Beach Sex is often made as a shooter by using half a vodka, half-peach schnapp, and a little grenadine.
- Yet another variation of basic Vodka, schnapp peach, orange juice, & amp; cranberry juice recipe is the addition of apple schnapps. This recipe can be served as a cocktail or a shooter.
Some derived variants have their own names:
- "Sex on Fire" is Sex on the Beach with Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey in place of vodka.
- A "Woo Woo" is Sex on the Beach without orange juice.
- Alcohol-free variations are sometimes referred to as "Safe Sex on the Beach," "Cuddles on the Beach," or "Virgins on the Beach".
