Jingles
"The Meow Mix Theme" was written by Shelly Palmer in 1970. The theme lyric is "Meong meow meong" repeated several times. The idea came from Ron Travisano, at advertising agency Della Femina Travisano and Partners, who had an account with Ralston Purina in 1974. The first TV premises aired in 1974, and consisted of animals walking on the screen. Travisano put together a movie trailer with editor Jay Gold, rotating the cat's image to look like he was singing. The music was then composed by Tom McFaul from the Lucas/McFaul jingle house, one of the big house jingle depictions at the time. Working from the movie Travisano, McFaul writes and produces music to match, with the actual mewting done by professional singer Linda November. Travisano then came up with the idea of adding English "translation" subtitles, along with a bouncing ball showing words, often reflecting the specific flavors of a Meow Mix product that was advertised and converted from commercial to commercial.
