The Latin letter 'E' is slightly different from the source, the Greek epsilon, '?'. This in turn comes from the Semitic letters ḫ'̻ , which have been suggested to begin as human figures who pray or summon (hillul 'joy'), and may be based on similar Egyptian hieroglyphs show different pronunciation. In Semitic, the letter is represented /h/ (and /e/ in a foreign word); in Greek, ḫ'̻ into epsilon letters, used to represent /e/. Ancient Duck script types and Latin alphabets follow this usage.
