Vitamix is ​​privately owned and operated by the Barnard family. The company was founded in 1921 when William Grover Barnard began traveling to a country that sold modern kitchen products. The court concluded Vitamix had violated Blendtec's patent, and gave Blendtec a total damage of approximately $ 24 million, the largest patent-related penalty in Utah history.
In 2009, Dr. Jodi Berg became President of Vitamix, making it the fourth generation of the Barnard family to hold the title. He became CEO in 2011.
