Tony De Vit ( d? - VEE ; 12 September 1957 - 2 July 1998) is a British club DJ, producer and remixer and one of the most influential in his generation. He is credited with helping to take "Hard House" and fast "Hard NRG" sounding out of the London gay scene and into the major clubs. The single "Burning Up" reached number 25 on the UK Singles Chart in March 1995, with "To The Limit" making it 44 in September 1995. During that year he won the BBC Radio 1 Mix Essential of the Year Award, chosen by the event's audience , and mix anniversary Year Award for Louise's (Naked). He remixed many British Top 40 hits during his career with artists such as Taylor Dayne and East 17. Between 1994 and 1998 his popularity with the public club was rivaled by only Paul Oakenfold and Carl Cox. In September 2010, Mixmag UK announced the nomination of 35 DJs chosen by other big names in the world of dance music as those who are considered the best DJs ever. A next 15-month survey, which surveyed hundreds of thousands of global votes, asked who became the Largest DJ of All Time and when the results were announced in January 2011, Tony De-Vit was ranked No. 1. 9. and one in four English DJs who entered the Big 10.

Careers
Tony de Vit started DJ'ing at the age of 17, as a wedding DJ in 1976 playing at a local pub in his hometown of Kidderminster, followed in the early 20s, by his first residency at 'Nightingale' in Birmingham on Monday night where he played pop and Hi-NRG. In a relatively short time de Vit, through his musical talent and diversity, helped establish 'Nightingale' as a respected club. During the early 1980s, he worked at Beacon Radio Wolverhampton, playing at clubs during a late night slot at the 1922 event hosted by Mike Baker of Smooth FM).
It was about 1988 the famous gay superclub in London, 'Heaven' looking for an alternative DJ and Tony landed there playing twice a month on Saturday night he would play on the main floor 'Heaven' is considered the top gay club in the UK today. De Vit's set in 'Heaven' quickly built a reputation for itself and in 1990 another influential club called Trade appeared to the screen, promoted by Laurence Malice & Tim Stabler, Tony is a regular visitor in 'Trades', where he begins bombarding 'Trade' promoters with his set of tapes. Finally, they relented and allowed de Vit to stand up one night for Smokin 'Jo. Once successful, de Vit landed his residency in 'Trade'.
In 1992, an illegal Rave in England moved to clubs in an attempt to legalize the scene. One of the key figures of the current home music scene is a Birmingham promoter called Simon Raine, who is interested in Tony's career. He puts Tony on bills with Fabio and Grooverider at 'The Institute' and encourages him to make 'on the road' to other home parties because Tony mainly plays in gay clubs. Raine has launched a 'Gatecrasher' nightclub that successfully took the advice he played on the 'Chuff Chuff' show that shared the bill with Sasha. It was at this point that he recorded and released his first recording of 'Feel the Love (Do not Go Away)' which was well received on the club scene. The second release is a song titled 'Higher & amp; High '(with the disco diva Norma Lewis), which became the future benchmark for de Vit & amp; V2 concept, but it is de Vit 'Burning Up' song that makes everyone surprised directly at No. 24 on the UK Top 40 charts.
In 1995, Radio 1 contacted him for his first 'Essential MIx'. At the same time the record company acknowledged his talents and talents and Tony featured in no less than twelve of the top mixed compilation albums during the year including, Fantazia 'House Collection Volume 2' and the album 'Remixers', 'Retrospective' of the Sound Size House 'Volumes 2 & amp; 4, Boxed Global Underground series' Live in Tel Aviv ',' Live in Tokyo 'and' Live in Handsworth Wood 'are impressive (' joke!), 'Kiss mix 97', 'Trade' Volume 1 & amp; 3, and the international release, 'Trade Global Grooves'.
With the launch of Jumpwax Records in 1996, hard house music in the UK became more mainstream with songs such as 'Are You All Ready' and 'I Do not Care' started receiving major radio playback and strong sales figures upon release. After the collapse of Jumpwax Records in 1996, we saw the launch of its own label TDV Records, which saw it released, 'Bring The Beat Back' and 'Get Loose'. Tony went on to play at all major dance clubs/shows in the UK today, including, Legacy @ The Manor at Ringwood, Slinky @ the Opera House in Bournemouth, Cream, Gatecrasher, Godskitchen, and Creamfields. He collected a series of awards and nominations throughout the year, including Mixmag's '2nd Best DJ of the Year 1996', M8 'Best DJ of the Year 1996' magazine and was chosen by Music Week as 'Top Remixer of 1996'. The remix of Louise's 'Naked' earned Music Week's sound as 'Ground breaking Remix of 1996'.
In 1997, he was offered an event on 'Kiss 100' whose growing popularity grew in the year he was ranked number 5 on the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ in the World. In early 1998, he recorded the song 'The Dawn' with Paul Janes and Andy Buckley, which was part of six songs 'Trade EP'. Tony went on to comment that '... he is so proud of it...' remembering (for the first time) he works with new & amp; different engineers. Paul Janes goes on to reflect on 'The Dawn' as a personal appreciation for Tony's work and a special understanding for his musical genre, the song being considered his best work.
