Terror is a 1920 Western movie starring Tom Mix, Francelia Billington, and Lester Cuneo. The film was produced by William Fox and directed and written by Jacques Jaccard, and is based on a story written by Mix.

Plot
Mix plays the US Deputy Marshal who works at a gold mining camp in the Sierra Nevada. The antagonist is Con Norton (Lester Cuneo) who has a dance room. Mix learns that a group of robbers who work for Norton plan to steal a gold shipment, and engage in a fight with them, swinging on the candlestick. Mix Tony's horse helped him win the battle. There was also a gunfight in the steam locomotive, shown in publicity photos.

Production
The railroad scene was filmed in the Jamestown area, California, and featured Sierra's steam locomotive. 3 in her first film appearance. Locomotive shown in publicity is still for the film.
During filming, actors Billington and Cuneo first met, and they soon got married. They divorced in 1925, and Cuneo committed suicide a few days later.
Release
The Studio is the Fox Entertainment. It was a five reel film, and released in May, 1920. The marketing slogan for the film included "Daredevil screen in the great pace of work, action and suspense", and "A Drama of Daredeviltry and Romance".
Reception
A newspaper critic for the Kentucky New Era wrote in 1920:
Tom Mix marks another winner. Not only the star that holds the spell of its audience tied, but it has photoplay which is the original "corker". "The Terror" is the story of a gold rush in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and the picture, without question is the most thrilling Mix ever done this season. Anyone who loves a great western outdoor life should not miss seeing "The Terror".
