Northern Dog

The Spitz is a major breed of dog in the Arctic and northern parts of the world, and Shiba Inu, Chow Chow, Alaska Malamute, Siberian Husky, and Samoyed are being shown by genetic research as descended from the oldest known breed of dog. Spitz or Northern Dogs today have evolved from antiquity along with humans, and in modern times have been selectively cultured and documented as a variety of modern breeds of breeds, including those listed here.

Major registries

The Northern Breed Group is a Group category used by the United Kennel Club (USA).

Minor recording

Many regional breeds recognized by the United Kennel Club are very few in the United States. As a US based club, they have specialized in North American breed registry, especially hunting and working/dog utilities. Since many of these breeds are small (called rare breeds), they can also be registered with various small breed clubs, dog sports clubs, kennel minor clubs and internet-based dog business. In this Group, Klee Kai Alaska (a new type developed from mixed race dogs in 1970 in Alaska, USA) can still be registered with the American Rare Breed Association as well as with the United Kennel Club.

Unrecognized

The breeds that are not recognized by the kennel club mean that it has not been adequately checked in accordance with certain kennel club rules.
