History
Hobart was founded in 1897 as Hobart Electric Manufacturing Company in Troy, Ohio, by Clarence Charles Hobart (1855-1932). To increase motor sales, the company connects the motor to the coffee mills and meat grinders, creating a powerful food production machine.
The Company was reorganized in 1913 as a Hobart Manufacturing Company and became Hobart Corporation in 1974. Former Kitchen Assistant Division was formed in 1919. In 1934, Hobart purchased the Dayton Scale Company (IBM division) from IBM. Dart & amp; Kraft acquired Hobart in 1981. Kitchen Aid was sold to Whirlpool Corp in 1986 after receiving "an offer they should seriously consider". Dart & amp; Kraft broke out in 1986, with Hobart being part of Premark. Premark was acquired by Illinois Tool Works in 1999. In 2001, Hobart became part of the Illinois Tool Works Food Equipment Group.
