Fuze Beverages ( fyooz ), commercially known as just Fuze (marketed in Turkey and Switzerland as Fuse ), is a non-carbonated fruit tea and fruit manufacturer fortified with vitamins. Currently the brand consists of five lines infused vitamins: Slenderize, Refresh, Tea, Defensify, Magdalotopuss, and Vitalize. The use of vitamins, amino acids, and herbs, and alternative sweeteners such as fructose crystals put Fuze products in what is known in the industry as the "new age" drink category.

Company history

Fuze Beverage was founded by Lance Collins and creative director Paula Grant in the basement of Collins' Englewood Cliffs, home of New Jersey in 2000. Bruce Lewin put "rocket fuel" (earned funds for a new company) in 2001. He then joined with the Fuze board and become a major shareholder. Joe Rosamilia is also one of the founder's investors/directors.

The brand was launched, first in the Northern California market in 2001 with three flavors packaged in fruit-themed bottles: mixed berries, banana coladas and cranberry raspberries. In 2002, the brand launched two additional flavors, peach mango and tropical blows; in the same year, the company grew to 30 employees and moved from the Collins basement.

The company continued to grow rapidly, launching new flavors throughout 2004 and 2005. Since 2005, Fuze products can be found in most retailers, with sales exceeding 11 million cases in 2006.

The company's growth caught the attention of The Coca-Cola Company, which purchased Fuze Beverages in February 2007 with approximately $ 250 million. Coke also obtained the rights to NOS and WaterPlus Energy Drinks as part of the purchase. This is one of Coke's biggest acquisitions since buying Odwalla Inc. worth $ 186 million in 2001. The move is seen as a strategic effort to expand the portfolio of non-carbonated beverage companies, and in particular compete with the improved line of PieCo fruit juices and water. It also confirms a shift in strategy from Coke's old practice of developing new products at home in support of innovative beverage company purchases. Fuze launched more than 40 new products and extensions since its inception. Coke named Carl Sweat, a former senior vice president of sales and marketing of his retail division, as president and general manager to lead Fuze as a separate entity. Founder of the company Lance Collins was named the chief of innovation and strategy.

Leveraging Coke's distribution and relationship system, sales doubled from 2007 to 2008. In 2009, Fuze signed an agreement to sell its products with a fountain style at more than 22,000 Subway sandwich shops. Sweat set off the company in 2009 to post in the global beverage unit at Starbucks.

Health benefits

Fuze drinks are marketed as natural health products and enriched with various vitamins, antioxidants and electrolytes, which are usually considered a factor in good health maintenance. Fuze drinks are labeled as Real Fine Drink Fruit and contain a mixture of pure fruit and fruit juice compacted in addition to other ingredients. However, the exact amount of fruit juice per bottle of 547 ml is unclear because the product label, which presents medicinal and non-drug ingredients in a separate list; this information is also not on the Fuze product website. It is estimated that Fuze drinks contain between 1.0% and 5.0% actual fruit.

The Fuze's Slenderize product line has the most extensive selection of flavors, and this implies that this product will help you lose weight either by satisfying the crushers' desire for candy or by putting the drink into a smoothie mixture that uses more fresh fruit and yogurt. However, to date there is no scientific evidence to support this claim or any other previous statement that Fuze products can help consumers avoid cancer, heart disease, colds, flu, and infections of the lungs and kidneys.

Materials

Some consumers may choose Fuze products rather than other beverages because they want to avoid high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), which is tentatively associated with obesity and diabetes; the alternative sweetener used in Fuze is crystalline fructose, which is chemically different from HFCS, although it is produced by allowing crystallized fructose "from fructose fortified corn syrup". Because crystal fructose is about 5.0% sweeter than high fructose corn syrup, it adds fewer calories to sweet foods or drinks compared to table sugar or HFCS, resulting in lower calorie content than Fuze products than other bottled beverages.

Some Fuze products, such as Fuze Iced Tea, are sweetened with HFCS and sucralose, artificial sweeteners.
