Gameplay
The first half is an elimination game where the eight cats are placed in front of a cat food bowl. The three most-fed cats at the end of time moved into the second round; those who were eliminated earned $ 1,000. The three remaining owners answered trivial questions for points. The format is similar to Jeopardy! with six cat related CATegories that contain questions ranging from 10 to 50 points. The owner of the lowest score is omitted with $ 10,000. The two remaining cats are each recorded in seven different situations. Owners are betting on what their cats will do before each clip is displayed. They may not be betting more than half of their points on the first two questions. For the rest, they can bet on any or all of their points. The cat and the owner with the highest score won $ 25,000, and the opportunity to play a bonus round; the eliminated contestant earns $ 15,000.
Meow Mix Million Dollar Challenge
Ten Meow Mix cat food pockets are placed on stage; the bag contains symbols with only one pair containing matching symbols. Owners and cats each choose bags. If two selected bags have the same symbol, the owner wins $ 1,000,000, and in addition, earns an additional $ 100,000 to donate to the animal shelter of their choice. Otherwise, the contestant will go with $ 25,000 earlier in the game.

Production
Trial for the show was held on June 21, 2008. Potential contestants auditioned in front of a panel of three judges, including Vincent Pastore and Lee Meriwether. Those who passed the audition were flown to Hollywood to compete with their cat as a contestant. The program, hosted by Chuck Woolery, executives produced by David Doyle, and sponsored by Meow Mix, aired as a one-time special on November 15, 2008. Reruns of the program aired four times throughout the rest of the month. Woolery expressed his excitement at the special prospect, stating that the show "is designed to prove or disprove" that the owners know everything they think they know about cats. Steve Ochi, a writer for the event, called the project a "success", although a minor incident occurred when a camera shy cat forced the producers to use a cat doll for a few shots. No new episodes were produced since the original specials.
Reception
Carrie Grosvenor on Entertainment gave Think Like a Cat one star out of five. Grosvenor thinks that the show should be "taken down", saying that the only pro is Woolery's hosting and the fact that the episode was "only 30 minutes". Neil Genzlinger of The New York Times is equally unimpressed, special mentioning "is not just one of the most embarrassing half-hours in television history, [but] it is also a significant step toward the civilized collapse of society". Genzlinger also called the game "stupid" and added that the infomercial feeling of the show was "a thorough problem". Regardless of criticism, more than 1,000,000 combined viewers watched the show at some point during its five impressions.
