The hurricane is a sweet alcoholic beverage made with rum, fruit juice, and syrup or grenadine. This is one of the many popular drinks served in New Orleans.
The creation of this one colored relative of daiquiri is credited to the owner of the New Orleans store, Pat O'Brien. The bar allegedly began as a speakeasy called Mr. O'Brien's Club Tipperary and his password are "storm's brewin '" .
In the 1940s, he needed to make a new drink to help him get rid of all the less popular rumors that local distributors forced him to buy before he could get some more popular liquor cases like scotch and other whiskey. He poured the potion into storm-shaped glasses and gave it to the sailors.
Drinks are caught, and that has been a mainstay in the French Quarter ever since.
This is more commonly presented in disposable plastic cups, because New Orleans legislation permits drinking in public and leaves the bar with drinks, but the city prohibits public drinking from glass containers.
Hurricane cocktails are made differently in the Bahamas. This drink consists of various sizes of coffee drinks, 151 rum, Irish cream, and Grand Marnier. Usually found in downtown Nassau bar.
