Temperament

The result of combining the two races is a large, rugged, and intelligent dog, with increased utility in both hunting and shepherding.

In grazing, Catahoula bulldogs have the natural ability of Lea Dog Leopard Lea, using intimidation against herds on farms and farms. In catching pigs, this cross is strong and intelligent to catch real pigs. As a bear hunter, Catahoula bulldogs excel because of the size and aggressiveness of the American Bulldog as well as the intelligence and the ability to hunt Catahoula Leopard Dog. History

Bulldog Catahoula has been around for more than 100 years, found mainly in the southern United States. It was reported that breeders wanted dogs with the dual purpose of herding and catching pigs and hunting bears. While Catahoula Leopard Dog is very skilled at luring pigs into a pen then escaping in the back of the pen, it's not big or strong enough to catch a pig by itself. The American Bulldog has extra size and weight as well as an excellent catch dog with strong jaws, while Catahoula Leopard has intelligence, speed, endurance and hunting instincts and herds.

Catahoula's Bulldogs are one example among many niche worker brokers (as opposed to "breeding designers" for crossbreeding) that are in development. Others (often by the name of pseudo-archaic) have been dubbed Olde English Bulldogge (acknowledged as descendants by UKC) and Ca de Bou ("rescued" from extinction by extensive crosses), among more experimental crosses.
